When can I expect my order to arrive?
Unlike many other retailers, we consider our products to be our art, so each piece is hand created by artist Erika Van Dewark. In addition to this, because we offer such a wide variety of glass blank options, it's hard to tell what we need to keep in stock. So each piece is created when you order it. These factors combined with overall order intake and custom projects mean (that to be on the safe side) it could take up to 2-3 weeks of production time before your order ships. In some instances things may be completed and shipped faster (in which case you will be pleasantly surprised!), but we want to be sure you order far enough in advance to receive your items by the time you need them.
Do you blow the glass as well?
Van Dewark Fine Art Carvings, LLC specializes in the carving and etching of glass, we do not however blow the glass. In fact all of our blank glassware is crystal glass by Schott Zwiesel, whose unique crystal glass composition makes it some of the most durable and desirable crystal glassware available.
What is the difference between your "glassware" collection and "Specialty Glassware" collection?
Some glass styles are more common and popular than others. We've separated these options from some of the less common glass styles to make finding the right glass style easier for you. What do you mean by Fine Art "Carvings"?
Artist Erika Van Dewark uses a variety of techniques to create the products you see here. She combines her hand drawn designs with sand blasting (silicon carbide) and water jet cutting to literally carve dimensional images into the crystal glass.
CUSTOM & CORPORATE ORDERS
What is the difference between a custom order and personalizing an order?
The basic difference between placing a "custom" order and requesting a "personalization" is that custom requires an entirely new piece to be created with art work per request, while a personalization is the simple addition of a message to an existing piece. For example, if you would like to order one of the "one of a kind" vases available in our catalog, but it has already been sold, you can commission the piece. To do this, use our contact page to express your interest and we'll be in touch with you as soon as possible. Prices, sizes, and turn around time vary from piece to piece.
If you are purchasing an item for a gift, you have the option to add a personal message at no extra charge. These personalizations are "hand written" by the artist, usually along the base of the glass. The option to add a personal message is found during checkout. When filling out this field please write your message EXACTLY as you would like it to appear and check spelling. There is no way to undo the carving of these inscriptions so please triple check it before submitting. We recommend no more than 40 Characters (including spaces), however, if yours is a bit longer, simply make note of this after your personalization message and we'll contact you with a solution.

What custom designs can you create? Can you do people, pets, trademark logos, etc.?
While we can work from photographs (with amazing results), it is important to remember that the finished product is a hand rendered likeness. So when requesting custom pieces that will feature pets or people we recommend you contact us directly so that you and the artist can come up with the best possible arrangement. Unfortunately we do not do trademark logos, so if you're looking for a set of 49ers logo shot glasses, I'm afraid we can't help you.
Can you create pieces for my personal business/corporate gifts?
Yes! If you own the logo of your business and are interested in getting custom glassware for your office, or would like to have your logo carved on to architectural glass (doors, windows, dividers etc.), wine bottles, or commission an award or art piece, we would be more than happy to help you, please use our contact form and we'll be in touch.
Why are custom orders more expensive?
Custom orders are more expensive because they require design time, special materials, and set up costs. Once you've contacted us about commissioning a piece or custom glassware, we will be able to create a proposal for you outlining details specific to your order. We do ask that all custom orders be paid for in full up front.
How far in advance do I need to order custom pieces if they are to be gifts?
Stemware generally takes less time than say a custom vase, however if you are ordering 90 wine goblets for your company Christmas party, that obviously will take more time. We recommend ordering special items like these (or any thing you intend to give as a gift or have on display at a specific time) well in advance. To be on the safe side we recommend ordering 2 months in advance of your "due date". Of course it never hurts to contact us directly and discuss exactly what you need and when you need it by. Depending on our current orders, we may be able to deliver to you by the time you need it. It's best in these situations to ask us directly.
What constitutes an architectural element, do you do windows and doors?
An architectural element is anything that could be considered a feature of the space's physical makeup. Van Dewark Fine Art Carvings, LLC specifically specializes in glass carving, which in this case would include windows, doors, partitions, privacy screens, banister panels, sauna enclosures, shower doors, and pretty much anything else in your space that is glass. We also work in conjuncture with Van Dewark Construction and have partners that are able to create stone, wood and metal architectural pieces as well. This would include doors, sinks, cabinetry, fire place surrounds, sconces, banisters, gates and much more. Can you carve an existing piece of glass in its frame or does it need to be removed/replaced all together?
While we prefer to use a new piece of glass, separate from the existing structure and then instal it for you, it may be possible to work with what you already have. We recommend a consultation with our artist to address the various options and solutions.
How can I order a custom architectural piece?
It's so easy! You can either give us a call or use our contact form to express your interest and we'll be in touch. As soon as we have a preliminary consultation with you we'll be able to give you an estimate for the project and work from there.
RETURNS, EXCHANGES, STORE CREDIT, PHYSICAL STORE, SHIPPING
What if my items are damaged upon arrival?
If you receive your order and find it is damaged (which would be just gut wrenching to us!) we will gladly replace it for you. Damage claims must be placed within 3 days of you receiving your order. Please hang on to the original packaging and damaged item(s). Use our contact form or call us directly. Once you've contacted us with your claim we'll work together to figure out what went wrong and what we can do to get you a new piece asap.
What is your return policy?
Due to production costs and the time and care it takes to create these products, we do not accept straight returns. We will however gladly give you store credit or exchange your item if you are unhappy with it for any reason.
Do you have a physical store?
Yes we do and we'd love for you to come visit! Our physical store/showroom is located in Vacaville, California, nestled in between the San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento and the Napa Valley. We are located on Merchant Street in Vacaville's historic downtown amongst several other small businesses and shops that lend themselves to a quaint and enjoyable shopping experience, with several great restaurants and bars along the way. We are open most days, Monday-Friday 2pm-6pm. Occasionally our showroom is closed to accommodate for our production hours. If you'd like to pay us a visit outside of our normal hours of operation we are open by appointment, just give us a call a day or two ahead of time.
Can I pick up an item I've purchased online in store?
Yes! In fact we love when we get to meet our customers face to face. If you place an order online and would like to pick it up in store, expect the standard 2-3 week production time, and we'll give you a call as soon as your order is ready!
Do you sell gift cards?
We do sell gift cards, however at this time they are only available at our physical store. If you'd like to purchase a gift card but can't make it to our physical location please contact us. Additionally, gift certificates can only be used in our physical store at this time. We apologize for any inconvenience and will be happy to work with you if this presents an issue.
Do you have a gift registry?
You can access our gift registry from our main menu. There you can create a new registry, look for a friend's, or manage your existing registry. Registries stay open for 3 months after your event date. We do not share your information with anyone.
